Towels for Hotels: cost
By The Velocity Wear Team
Hotel towels are quoted per job, because the per-piece figure depends on the weight class, the finished size and how the branding is applied. There is no single list price that would be honest across a gym-weight pool towel and a hotel-weight bath sheet. What is fixed is the structure: fifty pieces of one design opens an order, and the rate steps down through five quantity bands to a maximum of 35% off the fifty-piece price.
How is a hotel towel order priced?
Think of the quote as three multiplications. The weight class sets the baseline, since a hotel weight uses considerably more cotton than a gym weight of the same dimensions. The size then scales that baseline, which is why a bath sheet and a face cloth sit at very different points even with identical specification. The branding method adds its own line, with woven construction and printed application costing differently.
Quantity is the fourth factor and the one you control on the day. Because setup and handling spread across the run, a longer order carries less of that overhead per towel. That is the mechanism behind the discount ladder rather than a negotiation. The wholesale towels page sets out the weights and formats, and it is worth putting your room count against it before asking for numbers.

What does the volume ladder look like?
Five bands: 50–99, 100–249, 250–499, 500–999, and 1,000 and above. Each threshold crossed takes more off the per-piece figure, measured against the fifty-piece rate, with the total reaching up to 35% at the top band. Hotels are one of the few buyers who routinely reach the upper bands on a first order, because a linen rotation demands multiples of the room count rather than a single set.
That makes the arithmetic unusually favourable. A property working out that it needs three sets per room is already committing to a large quantity, and the difference between ordering that in one run and ordering it across three runs is meaningful money. It is worth modelling both before you split a programme up for cash-flow reasons. Our wider price breakdown is in what wholesale towels actually cost.
Which choices push the per-piece figure up?
In rough order of impact:
- Moving from a gym weight to a hotel weight, which changes the amount of cotton in every piece.
- Adding a larger format such as a bath sheet, which is a significant jump over a standard bath towel.
- Running multiple colourways, since each one that needs its own setup counts as a separate design.
- Complex branding artwork, which is more work to reproduce consistently across hundreds of pieces.
Notice that only the first two are about the product. The other two are about how you organise the order, and both are within your control. A property that settles on one colour and one clean mark across the whole estate buys more towel for the same money than one running four variants.
What sits outside the quoted figure?
Delivery transit is separate from the 10 to 15 working day production window, and the destination changes it: we ship to the UK, the USA and Europe. The £150 sample is charged before the main order and credited back against it. And if you are budgeting in a currency other than the quote currency, we invoice in seven currencies, so ask for the quote in the one your finance team actually works in rather than converting it yourself.
