Holiday Let Towels: What Guests Expect and How to Brand Them
By The Velocity Wear Team
The UK holiday let market is competitive. Guests compare photos, amenities and reviews, and small comforts make a difference. Good towels are one of those comforts. Branded towels go a step further, making a property feel like a boutique stay rather than someone's spare room.
What to provide per guest
- One bath towel or bath sheet per guest.
- One hand towel per guest, or per bathroom.
- A bath mat per bathroom.
- Beach or pool towels if you're coastal or have a hot tub.
Sizes
Our bath towel is 70 × 140 cm and bath sheet 90 × 180 cm. Bath sheets feel generous and luxurious. Hand towels are 45 × 75 cm. Keep beach towels a different colour so guests don't take bath towels to the sand. See personalised beach towels.
White or colour?
White is easiest to launder and looks like a hotel. Colours can suit a design scheme but fade over repeated washes and are harder to match on reorders. Many hosts use white for bathroom towels and a colour for beach or hot tub towels.
Par levels for changeovers
With quick turnarounds, you need a full clean set ready while the used set is being laundered. Most hosts hold at least three sets per bed: one in use, one in the wash, one spare for stains and emergencies.
Laundering between guests
Wash hot, skip fabric softener, dry thoroughly. If you use a laundry service, confirm they'll return your branded towels, not generic pool stock. Replace towels with make-up, fake tan or hair dye stains that won't shift.
Branding
Embroider your property or portfolio name near the hem, or add a small woven label. Guests notice it, photograph it and remember the name. Branded towels are also less likely to go missing.
Missing towels
State in your house rules and booking terms that towels stay at the property. If you charge for missing items, say so clearly before booking. Most guests are honest, and branding helps.
Managing a portfolio
If you run several properties, one towel design across all of them simplifies laundry and ordering. The minimum is 50 per design, which suits a small portfolio.
Quick checklist before you order
- Bath towel and hand towel per guest?
- Separate colour beach towels?
- Three sets per bed?
- Property name embroidered or woven label?
- House rules mention towels?
Welcome packs and first impressions
Many hosts leave towels folded on the bed with a welcome card, sometimes tied with a ribbon. A branded towel with the property name makes the arrival feel special. It's often the first thing guests photograph.
Using a laundry service
Many UK holiday let hosts and management companies use linen hire or laundry services. If you buy your own branded towels, confirm your laundry can process and return owner's stock rather than substituting their own. Some hire services only provide their own linen.
Pet-friendly lets
Dog-friendly holiday cottages benefit from providing dog towels in a distinct colour, so guests don't use bath towels to dry a muddy spaniel. A branded dog towel by the door is a thoughtful touch reviewers mention.
Seasonal refresh
Refresh towels before peak summer season, when reviews count most.
Ordering
Bath towels start from £8 including branding. Production takes 10 to 15 working days from artwork approval. See wholesale towels and personalised bath towels.
