Wholesale Towels for Hotels
By The Velocity Wear Team
Hotel towels are quoted per job, ordered at 50 pieces per design and produced in 10 to 15 working days from artwork approval. The quantity is set by the par level rather than the room count: every towel in a room needs one in the laundry and one on the shelf, so a property works on roughly three sets before the first order is even specified.
How many towels does a hotel need per room?
Three sets per room is the working figure most housekeeping teams use. One in the room, one in the wash, one in the linen store. Properties with a slower laundry turnaround or an off-site contractor push that towards four. Anything below three and a delayed laundry run turns into rooms going out short.
Then multiply by the pieces in a set. A bath sheet, a bath towel, a hand towel and a face cloth in every room means four separate specifications, each with its own 50-piece minimum. That is why hotel orders clear the minimum comfortably but need planning by line rather than as one number. The range is on our wholesale towels page.

Which weights suit rooms, pool and spa?
We supply gym, spa and hotel weights, and a property with a leisure offer usually needs all three. Hotel weight belongs in the rooms, where the guest judges the towel by hand feel and the laundry is controlled. Spa weight suits treatment rooms and changing areas. Gym weight goes to the pool and the fitness suite, because it dries fast and turns over quickly.
Using room stock at the pool is the expensive mistake. Heavy towels at a poolside get soaked, take longest to dry and wear out at several times the rate, and the guest by the pool is not comparing hand feel the way a guest in a bathroom is.
Should a hotel logo be woven or printed?
Woven, for anything guest-facing in a room. It reads as part of the towel, it survives an industrial laundry indefinitely and it does not crack or lift the way a surface treatment can after hundreds of cycles. A woven border or a jacquard panel carrying the property name is the standard specification.
Printed branding earns its place on pool and spa stock where a bolder mark helps identify property towels, and on retail towels sold at reception. Our post on personalised bath towels for hotels and B&Bs covers the smaller-property version of the same decision.
How do you plan the next linen rotation?
Replace by line, not by property. Hand towels wear out long before bath sheets because they are used more often and washed harder, so a whole-property replacement wastes money on the lines that still have life in them. Track each line separately and reorder the one that has aged, and check the quantity against the tiers on our pricing page before splitting a rotation into two smaller orders.
Allow 10 to 15 working days of production from artwork approval plus transit, and place the order while the current stock is still serviceable rather than when it is already failing. A £150 sample, credited against the bulk order, is worth taking once per specification, put through your own laundry contractor before you commit the full rotation. The wider towel specification detail is set out in our guide to wholesale towels for gyms, spas and hotels.
Budget for shrinkage as a line rather than as a surprise. Guest-facing linen leaves properties, particularly the smaller sizes and anything carrying an attractive mark, and a property that has not allowed for it watches its par level fall quietly across a season until rooms start going out short. Count the linen store at fixed intervals rather than when something feels wrong, and set the reorder trigger above the level you think you need, so a slow delivery never becomes a housekeeping problem.
