Size stickers for clothing bags let a picker, packer or shop assistant read the size, and often the colour and style, of a garment without opening its bag. Why should the size be readable without opening the bag?
Because every bag opened to check a size has to be refolded, resealed and sometimes replaced. In a warehouse, a clear size sticker makes picking faster and cuts wrong-size orders, which otherwise come back as returns. On a shop floor, staff can find a medium in a stack in seconds, and customers can check a pegged bag without pulling it apart. An SKU, or stock keeping unit, is the internal code a brand uses for one exact item, for example a black hoodie in medium. SKU stickers are labels carrying that code, and they suit warehouses that pick by code rather than by eye. They can sit alongside a plain size sticker rather than replacing it, so the size is still obvious to anyone who does not know your codes.
How are stickers matched to your size run?
You give us the size breakdown per design, say 10 small, 15 medium, 15 large and 10 extra large, and each bag is labelled for the garment it holds. When the bags are ordered with your clothing, the sticker goes on as each garment is folded and bagged at the factory, so the label and the contents cannot drift apart. Do stockists need barcodes on garment bags?
Many do, especially larger retailers and online marketplaces that scan every unit at goods-in. The barcode number belongs to your brand, not to the bag maker. In most markets it comes from membership of GS1, the organisation that issues retail barcode numbers, and marketplaces such as Amazon may ask for their own label code instead. Ask each stockist for its packaging requirements before ordering, then send the codes and layout with your enquiry so the label content is confirmed in the quote.
