What should you decide before ordering custom poly bags?

Work through these in order; each one feeds the next. None of it has to be final when you enquire.

1. 1The garments. List every style that needs a bag, from tees to hoodies to joggers, because each bag is sized to the folded style it holds, not picked from a chart.

3. 3The closure. The range uses a resealable zip seal, two interlocking tracks along the top that press shut and reopen, so a customer can store or return the garment in the same bag.
4. 4The hang hole. Decide whether any of the stock will hang on a stockist's pegs; the hole is punched through the band above the zip.

6. 6Size stickers and labels. Your size run, plus any colour references, style names or SKU codes that should sit on the bag face.
7. 7Quantity per design. The minimum is 50 bags per design, where a design is one printed artwork, so count bags per artwork and add a margin for spares.
8. 8With or without clothing. Printed bags can be ordered alone for garments you already have, or with an apparel run, in which case each garment is folded, bagged and labelled at the factory.
9. 9The delivery country and date. Production takes 10 to 15 working days from artwork approval, and freight to your destination is quoted on top.

Which mistakes hold up a bag order?

• Measurements taken from the garment laid flat, not folded, so the bag has to be re-measured later.
• A low-resolution logo saved from a website, which needs redrawing before it can be proofed.
• Forgetting the hang hole until a stockist asks for one after the bags are made.
• Stickers that do not follow the size breakdown, leaving too many mediums and too few larges.
• A date that counts production but forgets proof approval and freight.
