How Much Do Wholesale Jackets & Outerwear Cost?
By The Velocity Wear Team
Jackets and outerwear are quoted per job rather than listed at a from-price, because the shell decides the number. An unlined coach jacket and a lined puffer are not the same garment, and no single figure covers both honestly. What is fixed is the shape of the pricing: fifty pieces minimum, and up to 35% off that fifty-piece price as quantity rises.
Why is outerwear quoted per job rather than listed?
Because the range inside the category is enormous. Other products carry a from-price at the fifty-piece minimum — t-shirts from $13, polo shirts from $18, hoodies from $31, denim jackets from $38 — and those hold because each garment is broadly one thing. Outerwear is four things. A softshell has a membrane, a puffer has fill and baffles, a varsity has a contrast body and sleeves. A single number would be wrong for at least three of them.
So the quote is built from your spec instead. Send the style, the quantity, the decoration and the finish you want, and the number comes back against that. The wholesale jackets page is where the styles and fabrics are set out.

What moves the number on your quote?
- The shell itself: lining, fill, membrane and weight account for most of the difference between styles.
- Quantity, and which tier it lands in — 50–99, 100–249, 250–499, 500–999 or 1,000+.
- Decoration: an embroidered chest mark, a DTF back panel and a screen print are priced differently, and stitch count matters more than logo size.
- Per-garment work such as names or numbers, each of which is its own setup.
- Private label finishing — woven neck labels, tear-out labels, swing tags and packaging.
Colourways matter too, in a way that surprises people. Each colourway needing its own screens is a separate design and carries its own fifty.
How much does the price drop as quantity rises?
Up to 35%, measured from the fifty-piece price and spread across the tiers. The step from the first tier to the second is the largest single improvement most buyers will see, because the setup costs that were spread over fifty pieces get spread over twice as many. The pricing page shows how the tiers are structured across the range.
The practical consequence is worth checking every time: if you are close to a tier boundary, the larger order can cost less in total than the smaller one. Ask for the number at both quantities before committing to the lower one.
What else lands on the invoice?
A £150 sample if you take one, credited back against the bulk order. Delivery, quoted to the UK, USA or Europe against the address and the weight — outerwear is heavier per piece than anything else in the catalogue, so transit is a larger share of the total than it is on tees. Invoicing is available in seven currencies. Production itself runs 10–15 working days from artwork approval, which costs nothing but has to be in the plan. If you are still choosing between shells, the jackets buyer's guide compares them, and the minimum order explained covers how the fifty is counted.
