Bulk Hoodies for Hotels: A Buyer's Guide
By The Velocity Wear Team
Hotels order hoodies at a 50-piece minimum per design, from $31 each, made in 10 to 15 working days from artwork approval. Before the sizes, settle one question: is this back-of-house kit for porters, grounds and spa staff, or is it a guest-facing item sold in the lobby? The answer changes the fabric, the branding and the quantity completely.
Where does a hoodie actually fit in a hotel?
In the places the uniform does not reach. Porters and doormen moving between a heated lobby and a car park. Grounds and maintenance staff. Spa and leisure teams who work in humidity and then step outside. Night staff on a reception with the doors open. It is not a substitute for a front-desk uniform and it should not try to be. The guest-facing case is separate and it is a retail decision: a hotel or spa hoodie sold as a souvenir competes with everything else a guest could buy, and it only works where the property has a name people want on their chest.

How many do you need for a laundry rotation?
More than the headcount, and that is where the 50 stops being an obstacle. Anything on a commercial laundry cycle needs at least three per person in circulation: one worn, one in the wash, one on the shelf. Twelve back-of-house staff therefore needs around 36 pieces, and a 50-piece run covers that plus a year of replacements. If the hoodies are personally issued and washed by staff at home, two each is enough and you carry the rest as joiner stock. Decide which model you are running before you set the quantity, because it changes the answer by roughly a third.
What finish survives a commercial wash?
Embroidery, and it is not close. Commercial laundry runs hotter and more aggressively than a domestic machine, and a printed layer on a garment washed daily at high temperature will start lifting long before the fabric wears out. Embroidered thread does not. If the property name has to be reproduced exactly, supply the colour reference and take a sample first: a sample is £150, credited against the bulk order. On weight, staff moving in and out of heated buildings are best at 280 to 320 GSM, which dries within a laundry turnaround. The heavier 350 to 450 GSM end is for grounds staff who are outside all day.
Sizing is worth handling differently from the rest of the uniform too. Back-of-house teams in hotels often include agency and seasonal staff whose sizes you do not hold, so the run should carry a wider spread than a permanent team would need, and the classic fit is safer than oversized because a loose hoodie looks careless in a guest-facing corridor. Sizes mix freely inside the 50, so the spread costs nothing except the planning.
Should hoodies and towels be ordered together?
There is a practical case for it. Both are bought against the same rotation logic, both are branded the same way, and ordering in one window means one set of approvals, one delivery and one invoice. Branded towels run on a much faster replacement cycle than hoodies do, so the quantities will not match, but the buying moment can. The hoodie from-price and the quantity tiers, which run up to 35% off the 50-piece rate, are on the wholesale hoodies page. For the guest-gift angle, branded towels as corporate gifts covers how properties use them.
