Restaurants: Ordering Hoodies in Bulk
By The Velocity Wear Team
Restaurants order hoodies in bulk at 50 pieces per design, from $31 each, built in 10 to 15 working days once artwork is approved. In practice a restaurant is not buying 50 hoodies for 50 people. It is buying two per front-of-house member, a few for the pass and the delivery door, and a reserve for the staff who will join before the next order.
Who in a restaurant is the hoodie actually for?
Rarely the kitchen. A chef working a hot line does not want brushed fleece, and a hoodie cord near a stove is a hazard. The garment earns its place elsewhere: runners moving between a warm dining room and a cold yard, hosts on a door in November, delivery drivers, and the staff who arrive and leave in branded kit and effectively advertise the place on the walk home. Prep staff on a morning shift before the heating comes up are the other regular case. Decide the list before you count, because the count drives the sizes and the sizes are the part you cannot change after production.

Which colours and weights survive service?
Dark ones. Black, charcoal and deep navy take oil spots, coffee and red wine without showing them between washes, and they carry a one-colour logo cleanly. Pale grey marls look good on day one and tired by week three. On weight, the 280 to 320 GSM end of our brushed-back fleece range is right for anyone moving between a warm room and outside, because it dries overnight and does not cook the wearer during a busy sitting. Save the 350 GSM and heavier fabric for staff who spend real time outdoors. The full weight range and what each end does is set out on the wholesale hoodies page.
How do you make 50 pieces fit a team of 15?
Hospitality turns over faster than most sectors, which turns the minimum from a problem into a buffer. Fifteen front-of-house staff at two hoodies each is 30. The remaining 20 sit in a cupboard as joiner stock, and because sizes mix freely inside the 50, you can weight that reserve towards the middle sizes that fit most people. That reserve is what stops a new starter spending their first month out of uniform, and it means you are not paying to set up screens twice in a year. The wider uniform picture, including what to run alongside the hoodie, is on the restaurants and hospitality page.
What decoration lasts through commercial washing?
Embroidery on the left chest, every time, for the piece staff wear on shift. It does not crack, it does not lift, and it still looks right after a year of hot washes. Keep a screen print for the back, where a larger logo or a site name can sit without being rubbed by an apron strap. DTF is the option when the logo has a gradient or fine detail that thread cannot hold. Whatever you choose, get a sample before a 50-piece commitment if the brand colour is specific. A sample is £150 and comes off the bulk invoice when you order.
One more piece of sequencing: order before the season you need it for, not during it. Production is 10 to 15 working days and the run into Christmas is the busiest stretch of the hospitality year. Christmas staff gifts and the real deadlines lays out the dates that actually bind.
