Towels for Gyms: lead time

Production on branded gym towels runs 10 to 15 working days from artwork approval. Around that sit the quote, the artwork round, the optional £150 sample and delivery transit, so a realistic end-to-end figure for a first order is five to six weeks. A repeat on approved artwork is faster at the front, but the build itself does not shrink.
How long does a gym towel order take?
Split it into three parts. Before production: enquiry, quote, artwork and sampling, which is the part you control and the part that usually overruns. Production: 10 to 15 working days, fixed. After production: transit, which depends on where the stock is going and whether it is palletised.
Most delays live in the first part. A logo that needs redrawing, a colour decision waiting on a director, a sample posted to the wrong site. None of that is production time, but all of it is your opening date slipping. Specifications and options are on the wholesale towels page.
Put dates against each of those three parts rather than holding one deadline in your head. Write down when artwork must be final, when the sample must be back, when approval happens and when stock has to be on site. A timeline on paper makes it obvious which decision is holding the order, and in practice that is almost always a single approval sitting with one person who does not know anything is waiting on them.
What starts the clock?
Artwork approval, and nothing before it. The 10 to 15 working day window begins when the final artwork is signed off, not when the order is placed or the deposit clears. An order sitting with one unresolved question about logo size has not started, however long ago it was confirmed.
So resolve everything in one pass. Approve the artwork, the placement, the colour reference, the finished size, the weight figure and any label at the same time. If a sample is part of the plan, take it before approval rather than after, because a change made on the strength of a sample restarts the clock.
When should a studio place the order?
For a launch, an opening or a rebrand, work back six weeks from the date you need stock on the floor and place the order then. For routine replacement, order when the existing stack is down to around a quarter rather than when it runs out, so the new towels arrive before you are rationing.
Gyms burn through towels faster than almost any other setting, so the replacement cycle is the one that actually matters. Build that trigger around the laundry cycle rather than the calendar. A site turning its full stack twice a week has a very different runway from one turning it twice a month, and the same warning level means different things in each. Count how many days of cover the remaining stack represents, and order once that figure drops below your lead time plus a fortnight.
What slows a towel order down?
Unfinished artwork, late colour decisions, a second colourway added mid-process, and delivery to a site that cannot receive a pallet. Each of those is avoidable and each adds days rather than hours. A second colourway added after approval is a separate design with its own 50-piece minimum, and it effectively restarts the process for that part of the order.
