Custom leather jackets come in five main styles: the aviator, with a shearling-style collar; the biker, with an asymmetric zip; the cafe racer, with a stand collar; the varsity, with contrast sleeves; and the tailored jacket, with a lapel. Velocity Wear makes all five with your logo, from 50 pieces per design, in 10–15 working days from artwork approval.

What are the main types of leather jacket?

Five silhouettes account for nearly every leather jacket a brand is likely to want, and each one carries a different message before the logo is even added. The table compares them on the features that define the style, the customer it suits and the natural home for your branding. Full specifications sit on our custom leather jackets range.

How do you choose the right style for your brand?

Start with the customer and the season rather than the jacket. A label selling into cold markets gets the most wear from an aviator leather jacket, because the lined body and big collar earn their place from November to March. A streetwear or music brand usually wants the attitude of a biker leather jacket, which also offers the largest branding canvas on its back.

If the brand is quiet and design-led, the clean lines of a cafe racer leather jacket let a single small mark do the talking. Teams, schools and anyone trading on belonging should look at a leather varsity jacket, where colour blocking does half the branding. For gifting and premium ranges, a tailored leather jacket reads as the most grown-up of the five.

How do you put a logo on a leather jacket?

The classic method is embossing or debossing: a metal die pressed into the leather with heat so the logo sits in relief or sunk into the surface. It cannot peel, crack or fade, and it suits leather better than almost anything printed. Embroidery works well for bolder marks and lettering, patches suit varsity and club looks, and custom woven labels, printed linings and branded zip pullers carry the name more quietly.

  • Embossed or debossed logo: permanent, tonal and premium; best for chest marks and collar tabs.
  • Embroidery: colour and texture for bolder logos, lettering and club marks; see our embroidery service.
  • Patches: chenille, woven or leather patches for varsity and biker looks, applied to chest, back or sleeves.
  • Labels and lining: woven neck labels, printed or jacquard linings and swing tags; see labels and packaging.
  • Hardware: branded zip pullers, snaps and buckles, the detail customers notice up close.

How much does a custom leather jacket cost?

Leather jackets are quoted per order rather than listed at one price, because the figure moves with the style, the leather and its finish, the lining, the hardware and the branding. An aviator with a lined body and heavy collar involves more material and work than a cafe racer, for example. Send the style, the quantity and your logo, and the quote comes back with the landed cost for your delivery country, usually within hours on a working day.

What is the minimum order and how long does it take?

The minimum order is 50 pieces per design, and sizes can be mixed freely inside the run. A second style or colourway counts as a separate design with its own 50 pieces. Production takes 10–15 working days from artwork approval, before freight, and orders ship tracked to the UK, USA, Europe and beyond. Our guide to the 50-piece minimum explains how to plan sizes and designs within it.

Should you order a sample first?

With leather, yes. Hand feel, colour and the depth of an emboss are hard to judge from a screen, and a jacket is a bigger commitment per piece than a T-shirt. One or two samples cost £150 including worldwide shipping, and that £150 is credited against the bulk order when it goes ahead. The jackets are made in Pakistan, where Velocity Wear manufactures, and sold from the UK.

What should you send to get a quote?

Four things: the style or styles you want, the quantity with a rough size split, your logo as a vector file or the sharpest image you have, and the delivery country and date. A reference photo of a colour or finish you like saves a round of questions. If you also sell technical outerwear, the custom jackets buyer's guide covers softshells, puffers and wool varsity jackets alongside.

FAQ

Quick Answers

Common questions about leather jackets — answered.

A biker leather jacket has an asymmetric front zip, wide lapels that snap down, quilted panels and plenty of metal hardware. A cafe racer strips that back to a centre zip, a short stand collar and a smooth front, so it looks cleaner and more minimal. Both work with a logo; the biker takes a large back design, the racer suits a small chest mark.

Yes. An order of 50 custom leather jackets can be split across any sizes and still counts as one design. What cannot change inside the 50 is the design itself, so a second colour, style or back logo is treated as its own design with its own 50-piece minimum.

A vector file (AI, EPS, SVG or PDF) is best, because the embossing die is cut from clean outlines. Fine detail and hairline text do not emboss well, so very intricate logos are usually simplified for leather, and the result is shown on a proof before anything is made.

Tell us the fits you need, men's, women's or both, with the size split in your enquiry. The quote confirms which cuts are available for the style you have chosen and how the run is made up against the 50-piece minimum per design.
