50-piece minimum · Mixed sizes · We never share your details

Outerwear is where a clothing brand starts to look like a clothing brand, and where the unit cost gets serious. A jacket is quoted per job rather than listed at a from-price, the minimum is fifty per design, and a first drop that sells out is only useful if a second one can follow it. Private label is what separates the two.

Can a jacket carry your own neck label?

Yes, and it should. Custom woven neck labels, tear-out labels, swing tags and packaging are all part of the private label service, and on a high-ticket piece they do more work than on a tee — someone paying jacket money looks inside the collar. Specify the label with the garment rather than after it, because a woven label is set into the construction and cannot be added later.

The clothing brands page covers the rest of the private label decisions a first drop has to make.

What does a first outerwear drop need to cost to work?

Work back from the retail price. A jacket has to carry a higher landed cost than a tee and still leave a margin that survives a discount weekend, so the fifty-piece tier is the hardest place to launch from. Where a brand can commit to a hundred, the per-piece price falls — up to 35% off the fifty-piece price as quantity rises through the 100–249, 250–499, 500–999 and 1,000+ tiers — and that difference is often what makes a drop viable at all.

Denim is its own case, both in cost and in how it ages. Custom denim jackets wholesale goes through weights, washes and what decoration does to them.

Which shell should a brand launch with?

Coach jackets are the low-risk entry: recognisable, cheap to decorate large, and they sell to an audience that already buys your tees. Varsity is the statement piece and the one most likely either to sell out or to sit. Puffers carry the highest ticket and the most risk. Softshell reads as workwear rather than streetwear and rarely suits a brand drop. All four, and what they are made from, are on the wholesale jackets page.

How do you plan the second drop while the first is selling?

Decide the reorder trigger before the first piece ships. Making time is 10–15 working days from artwork approval and transit sits on top, so a brand that waits until the last size sells out goes dark for a month at exactly the moment demand is proved. Set a stock level at which the repeat goes in, record the size split as it sells, and reorder against the recorded spec rather than a memory of it. Reorder cadence for UK brands sets out the rhythm that gets a brand past year one.

What should the photography show before launch?

The garment on a person, at the sizes you actually stock, with flat measurements published alongside. Outerwear is returned more often than any other category when the fit has to be guessed, and returns are what quietly destroy the margin a jacket was supposed to earn. Shoot the sample properly rather than relying on the render the design was approved from.

Show the inside as well. If you have paid for a woven neck label and printed packaging, those are part of what justifies the price, and nobody sees them in a front-on product shot. One photograph of the collar does more for conversion on a jacket than another lifestyle image.

Write the copy from the spec sheet: fabric, weight, lining, fit. A buyer at this price point reads all of it, and vague description is what drives the returns in the first place.

Quick Answers

Common questions about workwear — answered.

A sample is £150 and is credited against the bulk order. For outerwear it is close to essential, because the fit and the weight of a shell are the two things a render cannot show you.

Yes. Each colourway that needs its own screens is a separate design, so two colourways are two runs of fifty rather than one run of a hundred.

Invoicing is available in seven currencies, and delivery runs to the UK, USA and Europe, so a brand selling into more than one market does not have to settle everything in one.

Stay on the same base garment and publish measurements rather than letters. A brand that changes shell every season cannot build a size chart its customers learn to trust.
