Hoodies for Sports Clubs, Ordered Properly
By The Velocity Wear Team
A sports club orders hoodies at a 50-piece minimum per design, from $31 a piece, with 10 to 15 working days of production after artwork approval. The complication for clubs is not the garment. It is that squad numbers and initials make every hoodie slightly different, and that a sponsor who has not signed by the artwork deadline cannot be added to a run that has already been printed.
How do squad numbers and names get added?
As a second decoration pass on top of the base design, and the options for it are listed on the wholesale hoodies page. The club crest, the sponsor block and any fixed wording are printed or embroidered identically across the whole run. The personal element, a number or a set of initials, is applied per garment. That is why clubs are asked for a final list rather than a rolling one: once the run is in production, an extra player is an extra garment, and an extra garment on its own is not a 50-piece order. Collect the list with a deadline attached, confirm spellings with the players rather than the committee, and treat the list as closed when you say it is closed.

Where do sponsor logos go, and how many can you fit?
Three placements carry a sponsor well: the upper back, the sleeve and the lower front under the pouch line. A chest sponsor competes with the crest and usually loses. Two sponsors on a hoodie is comfortable, three is crowded, four means neither the club nor the sponsors get value. Ask sponsors for vector artwork early, because a logo supplied as a screenshot from a website cannot be printed at size and chasing a replacement is what pushes clubs past their deadline. Sponsors also change their colour specifications more often than clubs expect, so get the approval in writing.
When in the season does the order have to go in?
Before pre-season, not during it. Count back from the first fixture: 10 to 15 working days of production, plus transit, plus the fortnight it realistically takes to close a size list across a squad that is still forming. Clubs that order in August for a September start are usually fine. Clubs that wait for the final squad to be settled are not, because the final squad is never settled. The practical answer is to order for the players you are sure of, weight the spares towards the middle sizes, and accept that two or three hoodies will go to players who join in October. Pricing and the tier steps are on the pricing page and the club kit detail is on the sports clubs page.
How does a club pay for 50 hoodies?
Three ways, and most clubs use a mix. Subs can carry the cost if the hoodie is treated as part of the membership. A sponsor can fund the run in exchange for the back placement. Or the club can front the money and sell to players and parents at a margin, which also funds the spare stock. The quantity discount reaches up to 35% off the 50-piece rate at the largest tier, so a club that combines seniors, juniors and supporters onto one design pays materially less per piece than three sections ordering separately. A committee-level walkthrough of that decision is in club hoodies for UK sports clubs.
