Which keychain material is best depends on the job. Choose metal or leather for corporate gifts and retail, where the piece must feel premium; rubber PVC for a bold, colourful 3D logo at events; acrylic for full-colour artwork; wood for a lighter, natural look; and a bottle opener when you want it used as well as carried. All six start at 50 pieces per design.

How do the six keychain materials compare?

The logo method follows the material, and the material follows the audience. Metal, leather and wood are laser engraved, which is permanent. Rubber PVC is moulded with the logo in raised 3D. Acrylic is printed. The table puts all six side by side on the four things buyers ask about, and the keychain range page shows each one with a logo applied.

Metal vs leather keychain: which makes the better gift?

Both work as a premium gift, so the choice is about character. Metal is a brushed or plated tag on a premium split ring: cool, weighty and crisp, with the engraving a clean mark in the metal. Leather is a stitched strap with a riveted metal loop, softer and quieter, because engraving on leather is tone on tone. Metal suits a law firm, a car showroom or a jeweller; leather suits a fashion label, a hotel or a welcome kit. See engraved metal keychains and leather keychains with a logo.

Acrylic vs PVC keychain: which is right for colour?

Pick acrylic when the artwork has gradients, fine colour detail or many colours, because it is printed. Pick rubber PVC when the logo is bold and built from a few solid colours, because PVC is moulded and the colours stand up in raised 3D you can feel. Acrylic is rigid and clear; PVC is soft and bends. A shaded mascot illustration belongs on acrylic, whereas a chunky club crest in three colours looks better in PVC. There is more on each in bulk acrylic keychains and 3D rubber PVC keychains.

Are wooden keychains with a logo worth it?

Yes, when the brand is relaxed rather than corporate. A round wooden tag with a laser-engraved logo is light and warm, and the engraving shows as a darker mark in the grain. It suits cafes, bakeries, outdoor shops, craft breweries and lifestyle brands. It is a weaker fit for a finance or legal client gift, where metal or leather says more, and for very detailed artwork, since wood grain softens fine lines.

When does a bottle opener beat a plain tag?

When the audience opens bottles. A steel bottle opener keychain earns a moment of use every time it comes out, keeping the logo in front of people in a social setting. Bars, breweries, festivals and sports clubs are the obvious buyers, and bottle opener keychains for bars and breweries covers artwork and timing.

Which keychain materials are not in the range?

We do not make enamel keychains, so a query about hard or soft enamel gets an honest no from us. Instead of enamel, rubber PVC or printed acrylic give you colour, and an engraved metal tag gives you the weight and polish. Anything outside the six materials listed here is not something we make, and we would rather say so than quote for it.

How do you decide when two materials both fit?

Sample both. One or two samples cost £150 with worldwide shipping included, and the fee is credited against the bulk order, so a metal tag and a leather strap can sit side by side on your desk before you commit. Each material is its own design with its own 50-piece minimum, so ordering both means at least 100 pieces. The samples page explains how it works.

Once you have a front-runner, send the logo, the material, the quantity and the delivery country through the enquiry form on this page, and pricing usually comes back within hours on working days. Browse the keychain materials again to see each one branded, or read the custom keychains buyer's guide for minimums, lead times and gift boxes.

FAQ

Quick Answers

Common questions about keychains — answered.

Laser-engraved metal is the hardest-wearing choice for a logo keychain, because the engraving is part of the metal and cannot rub off. Leather and wood are engraved the same way, so their logos are permanent too. Rubber PVC carries its logo as part of the moulding rather than as a surface print, while acrylic is printed and chosen for colour.

Wooden keychains are laser engraved with a logo, which leaves a permanent darker mark in the grain rather than a printed layer. Velocity Wear makes them as round wooden tags from 50 pieces per design. Wood suits relaxed brands such as cafes and lifestyle shops, and works best with bold artwork, since the grain softens very fine lines.

Enamel keychains are not part of the Velocity Wear range, which covers metal, leather, acrylic, rubber PVC, wood and bottle openers. For colour, rubber PVC gives raised solid colours and acrylic carries full-colour print. For a weighty, premium feel, a laser-engraved metal tag with a premium split ring is the closest alternative.

Keychain materials can be mixed in one order, but each material counts as its own design with its own 50-piece minimum. Fifty metal tags and fifty leather straps with the same logo is two designs and 100 pieces. Both can be proofed together and run in the same 10 to 15 working day production window.
