What is the difference between brushed and plated metal tags?
A brushed finish has fine parallel lines worked into the surface, giving a satin look that tends to hide the small scuffs of daily use. A plated finish is a thin layer of metal applied over the tag for a brighter or deeper colour and a more polished look. Both take laser engraving. Why is laser engraving permanent?
Because nothing is added. The laser marks the surface of the tag where the logo sits, altering a very thin layer of the metal, so the design is part of the tag rather than a coat of ink sitting on it. There is nothing to scratch off or peel, which is what makes metal the choice for a keychain meant to stay on someone's keys rather than in a drawer.
How much logo detail can a metal keychain carry?
Less than a business card, and far less than a website header. Engraving is a single tone, so every colour in the logo becomes one mark whose shade depends on the metal and finish. Fine strokes, tiny text and tight gaps between letters close up at small sizes.

What is a premium split ring?
A split ring is the double coil of metal a key threads onto: you prise the end open and wind the key round until it sits between the coils. Our metal tags come with a premium split ring, so the ring feels as solid as the tag it carries.
