What is mesh fabric in a baseball jersey?
Mesh is a knit rather than a weave, with a regular pattern of small openings through it. On a baseball jersey the openings are fine, so from a few feet away the fabric reads as a solid colour, and close up you can see the texture. Polyester is the fibre almost every sports mesh uses, because it dries quickly, keeps its colour and does not shrink the way cotton can.

Sublimation only works on light-coloured polyester, because the dye colours the fabric rather than covering it. A dark jersey is decorated with embroidery or printing instead. How do you care for mesh baseball jerseys?
Wash them inside out, cool, with similar colours, and skip fabric softener, which can clog the mesh. Air drying keeps printed numbers at their best. Hang the jerseys rather than leaving them balled up in a kit bag, and a set will look sharp for many seasons. These are good habits to pass on to players and parents, especially where each family washes its own kit.
