What do schools use custom keyrings for?
Most orders fall into a handful of jobs, and the job decides the material. The crest works in any of them; the question is whether it needs its colours. Every material is shown with a logo on the school keyrings range, and the table below is a starting point rather than a rule.

How many designs does a school keyring order need?
Plan one design per year group, with at least 50 pieces of each. A primary school with a single Year 6 class of 30 can still order: 50 is the minimum, and the spare 20 go to staff, helpers and governors. A secondary year group sharing one leavers design clears 50 comfortably. What adds designs is variation: a different colour for each house, a separate sixth-form version, or the same crest in two materials. Each of those is its own run of 50.
Can every pupil's name go on a leavers keyring?
Not on individual keyrings. Every piece in a run carries the same artwork, so thirty names would mean thirty designs. What works instead is the whole year group on one piece: a leavers design reading 'Leavers 2027' under the crest, or the motif the year group chose. Can a PTA raise money selling keyrings?
It can, because keyrings are small, easy to display on a stall table and do not go out of date if the design is undated. The margin depends on your quote and the price you set, so ask for pricing on two quantities and work out how many sales cover the order before committing. A crest keyring can be sold at the Christmas fair, the summer fair and the following year's events; for the Christmas fair, agree the design early in the autumn term. When should a school order leavers keyrings?
For a July hand-out, send the enquiry before the May half term, and earlier if exams will pull staff away. Open-evening keyrings for September or October want the design settled before the summer holidays, since nobody is in school to approve a proof in August. Work back from the hand-out date like this:

Which keyring suits a school crest?
That depends on how detailed the crest is. A shield with a Latin motto in tiny lettering will not survive at keyring size in any material, so start from a simplified version with the motto removed. What should a school send for a quote?
The crest or leavers artwork, the number of designs and pieces per design, the delivery address, the hand-out date and who the invoice goes to: the school, the academy trust or the PTA.
