Church shirts get nearly two thousand searches a month in the US, and churches are some of the most loyal repeat buyers of custom apparel. Youth camps, mission trips, volunteer days, worship teams, capital campaigns. Every one of them is a reason to put people in matching shirts or hoodies.

Design ideas that feel welcoming
The best church apparel tends to feel inviting rather than preachy. A clean church logo on the chest, a short verse reference on the sleeve, a warm color, and a design that people are happy to wear to the grocery store. For youth groups, let students help choose the design. They'll wear what they had a say in.
Hoodies or shirts?
For summer camps, mission trips to warm places and VBS, t-shirts are the obvious pick. For fall retreats, winter youth nights and staff, hoodies get worn for years. Plenty of churches order both in a matching design. Our minimum is 20 per design with sizes mixed, including youth and adult sizes.
Sizing kids and adults
Youth ministries need a wide spread: youth small through adult XL and up for leaders. Collect sizes with a quick form. For kids, remember they grow; many parents prefer sizing up. If the same design is going on youth and adult garments, ask for the artwork to be scaled appropriately so it doesn't swamp a small shirt.
Budgeting
Keep decoration simple to keep prices down: one or two ink colors on the front, perhaps a small back print. Larger quantities lower the per-piece price at 50, 100 and 250. Some churches sell hoodies at a small markup to fund trip scholarships, which is a nice way to make apparel pay for itself.
Mission trip practicalities
- Choose a bright or distinctive color so the group is easy to count in a crowd.
- Avoid printing individual names on trips with minors for safety reasons.
- Pick breathable fabrics for hot climates.
- Put the church name and trip year on the back.
Timing
Production takes 10 to 15 working days after artwork approval, plus shipping. For summer camps and trips, get designs approved in spring. Summer is peak season for event apparel everywhere, so earlier is better.
Retreats and winter camps
Youth winter camps and retreats are perfect for hoodies. Students wear them all weekend and for years afterward as a reminder of the experience. Put the retreat theme and year on the sleeve so the main design can be reused.
Worship and tech teams
Worship bands and production teams often wear black on stage. A black tee or hoodie with a small tonal logo keeps the team coordinated without distracting from the service.
