Staff uniform caps work best embroidered, because embroidery is stitched into the cap and stands up to daily wear and regular washing, and with a one-size adjustable closure, so nobody needs a size. They start at $12 a piece at 50 caps per design and take 10 to 15 working days from artwork approval. The right style depends on the job: kitchen, delivery, trade or event crew.

Which cap style suits which job?

Start with where the cap is worn. Heat, weather, washing and how far away the logo has to be read all change the answer, and every style in the table is part of the wholesale cap range. If a cap forms part of your kitchen's hygiene policy, confirm with whoever owns that policy that it meets it: these are branded caps, not specialist food-safety headwear. The restaurants and hospitality page covers the rest of a kitchen and front-of-house kit list.

How does embroidery hold up to workwear washing?

Well, and that is why it is the decoration to choose for staff. Embroidery is stitched into the fabric, so there is no surface layer to crack or peel, and it stays legible through months of daily wear. Most work caps carry a small flat logo on the front, with 3D puff, where the stitching is raised over foam, kept for bold marks on structured caps.

Full-colour logos are the exception, because thread gives solid colours. For a detailed logo on a cap that goes in the wash every week, a woven patch holds the detail and is stitched on. Washing advice to pass on to staff is in care and washing for caps.

Do staff caps need sizes?

No, which is a large part of why caps are easy to add to a uniform. Snapbacks, dad caps, truckers and 5-panels are one size with an adjustable closure, so there is no size survey, no reorder when someone new starts in an odd size and no box of leftover smalls. Fitted caps are the exception: they are made in head sizes and suit a retail rail better than a rota.

How do caps match the rest of the uniform?

Use the same logo artwork as the shirts, polos or aprons, and match the cap colour to them. Put the caps on the same enquiry as the other garments and the proofs can be checked side by side, which is the easiest way to catch a thread colour that sits slightly off the shirt.

Each garment is its own product with its own 50-piece minimum per design, and uniforms are priced separately from caps. The garments are on the corporate uniforms page, and corporate uniform ideas by role shows how the pieces fit together by department.

How many caps should each employee have?

Two per person for anyone who wears a cap every shift, so one can be in the wash, and one for occasional wearers. Add a margin for new starters and replacements. A team of 25 daily wearers needs 50 caps, which lands exactly on the minimum; the spares margin takes you just past it.

Employers covering several sites should order one design across all of them, because quantity counts per design and a combined order drops into a lower tier, with up to 35% off the 50-piece price at 1,000 caps. How many uniforms per employee covers rotation for the rest of the kit.

Ordering caps for your team

Send the logo, the roles the caps are for, the style and colour, how many caps per design, the delivery address and the date staff need them. If other uniform pieces are part of the order, list them too. Everything fits in the enquiry form beside this article, and a quote normally follows the same working day. At Velocity Wear the full choice of work cap styles is on the custom caps page, and the personalised caps guide covers styles and delivery.

Common questions about caps — answered.

Restaurant staff caps work best as dad caps or structured caps with a strap closure, in black or a dark brand colour, with a small flat embroidered logo on the front. Dark colours hide kitchen wear, embroidery survives frequent washing, and the adjustable back means every member of staff wears the same one-size cap. They start at $12 a piece at 50.

Embroidered work caps can be washed regularly because the logo is stitched into the fabric, so there is nothing to crack or peel. A gentle wash and air drying help a structured cap keep its front and brim in shape. Staff who wear a cap every shift should have two, so one can be washed while the other is worn.

Branded caps for employees are one size with an adjustable closure, so there is no need to collect sizes from staff. Snapbacks, dad caps, trucker caps and 5-panels all adjust at the back. Fitted caps are the exception: they have a closed back and are made in head sizes, which suits retail better than a staff rota.

Each different name or job title on a staff cap is a separate design with its own 50-piece minimum, because every cap within a design is identical. The practical approach is one shared design for everyone, with a single role word such as STAFF or CREW on the back if needed, and individual names kept to name badges.

Each employee who wears a uniform cap every shift should get two, so one can be washed while the other is worn, and occasional wearers need one. Add a margin for new starters and replacements, and keep the order on a single design so the whole quantity counts towards the same volume tier.
