The best baseball jersey colour combinations pair one dark and one light colour, such as navy and cream, maroon and cream, or black and gold, so the kit reads clearly from across a field. What colours look best on a baseball jersey?
Contrast matters more than the colours themselves. A baseball jersey shows its second colour in thin lines, the piping on the placket and collar, and in the lettering, so those details have to stand clear of the body. A dark body with light piping, or a light body with dark piping, always works. Two colours of similar brightness, such as red and green or navy and purple, tend to merge into one from the stands.

How should you use a third colour?
Sparingly. A third colour works best as an outline on the lettering or numbers, or as a thin line inside the piping. It should never be a large area, because three big blocks of colour make a jersey look busy. Gold, silver or a bright accent such as orange work well in this role, because a thin line of them catches the eye without competing with the main pair. Should the shorts match the jersey?
Usually the shorts take the jersey's main colour, with side panels or stripes in the second colour. The reverse also works: a light jersey with dark shorts gives a strong base and hides grass stains. What about home and away colours?
Flip them. If the home jersey is navy with cream piping, the away jersey is cream with navy piping, or a cream pinstripe with navy trim. How do you get the exact colours right?
Send Pantone references if you have them, or a photo of existing kit or your logo file. Colours on mesh look slightly different from a flat swatch or a screen, so a sample is the surest way to approve the shade. A sample of one or two pieces is £150 with shipping anywhere, and the fee is credited back when the bulk order goes ahead. Check the sample outdoors as well as indoors, since daylight is where the kit will be seen. Production then takes 10–15 working days from artwork approval.
