A great reunion shirt shows up in every photo, helps cousins find each other in a crowded park, and turns into a keepsake. Organizing them means herding a lot of relatives, so here's a plan.
Design ideas

- A family tree graphic with the founding couple's names at the root.
- A location theme: the city or state where the family started.
- A tribute line to grandparents or ancestors.

Color coding by branch
Many large families assign a shirt color to each branch, often descendants of each sibling in the original generation. It's great for photos and helps people figure out who's who. Just know each shirt color counts as its own design for minimums, so four colors means at least 20 of each. For smaller reunions, one color keeps it simpler.
Sizing every age
Reunions span infants to great-grandparents. Collect sizes with an online form or shared spreadsheet, and have one contact per household fill in their family's sizes. Include youth and adult size charts in inches. Kids grow fast, so size up if the reunion is months away.

Collecting money
Decide early whether shirts are included in a reunion fee or paid for separately. Use a payment app or online form, set a deadline, and don't order for people who haven't paid. It avoids awkward conversations at the barbecue.
Choose the right shirt
Summer reunions are hot. A lightweight or midweight cotton tee is most comfortable. Bright or medium colors photograph well outdoors. Pre-shrunk cotton helps shirts stay the same size after the first wash.
Proofread names and dates
Double-check the spelling of the family name, ancestors' names and dates. Have two relatives check the proof separately. A typo in Grandma's name is not something anyone forgets.
Timeline
Production takes 10 to 15 working days after artwork approval, plus shipping. Give yourself six to eight weeks from when you start collecting sizes. Summer is peak season for event shirts, so ordering in spring is smart.
Handing out shirts on the day
Set up a table at the entrance with shirts bagged by household and labeled with the family name. Someone with the master list checks people off. Hand them out before the group photo, not after, and schedule the photo early while everyone's still looking fresh. Keep a few spares in common sizes for relatives who turn up unannounced. There's always one.
Honoring elders
Many families include the names of grandparents or ancestors who founded the family line. A small tribute on the back or sleeve is meaningful, especially at milestone reunions.
Reunion committees
Assign one person to shirts. They handle the design vote, size form, payments and supplier. Committees with no clear owner miss deadlines.
