Personalised Darts Shirts for Pub Teams and Leagues

By The Velocity Wear Team

Personalised darts shirts get about sixteen hundred UK searches a month, and the big televised events every winter push that higher. Pub teams and league players love a proper darts shirt: bold colours, a nickname across the back, and maybe the pub's name as sponsor. The good news is that team shirts don't have to cost what the pros pay.

Sublimated vs decorated shirts

Most professional-style darts shirts are sublimated. The whole design, including patterns, flames and colours, is dyed into polyester fabric, so it covers every inch of the shirt and never cracks. Sublimation needs polyester, which also suits darts, because it's light and doesn't crease.

A simpler route is a coloured polo with an embroidered team badge and a printed nickname on the back. It looks smart, suits cotton or blends, and costs less.

Sublimation is one of our decoration methods. Whether a fully sublimated darts polo suits your design depends on the fabric, so tell us the look you want and we'll say which route works.

The nickname is everything

The nickname is what makes it a darts shirt. Put it large across the upper back, with the first name or surname underneath if you like. Collect nicknames and sizes in one list. Keep it to around 12 letters so it stays readable. And make sure everyone's happy with their name, especially if a teammate chose it.

Design ideas

  • Team colours in bold side panels.
  • The pub or sponsor name on the chest.
  • A small flag for each player's home nation or county.
  • A team badge embroidered or printed on the left chest.
  • Sleeve prints for league or sponsor logos.

Don't copy the pros

Professional players' shirt designs and names, plus tournament and broadcaster logos, belong to someone. Take inspiration from the style, but don't copy a player's actual design or use official event marks.

Sponsors

Local pubs, garages and trades often sponsor darts teams in exchange for a logo on the shirt. A sponsor on the chest or sleeve can cover much of the cost. Get a vector logo from the sponsor and agree the size in advance.

Sizing

Darts teams tend to lean L, XL and 2XL, and some players prefer a roomy fit for throwing. Collect sizes individually. Our minimum is 20 per design with sizes mixed. Smaller teams sometimes combine with another team in the same league or order spares for new players.

League presentation nights

If your team wins the league or a cup, a commemorative shirt or polo for the presentation night is a great tradition. Put the season and title on the sleeve.

Colours that work under pub lighting

Pub lighting is warm and dim. Bold, bright colours and high-contrast lettering read far better in photos and from across the room than dark tonal designs. Test a sample under similar lighting if you can.

Captains and team roles

Some teams add CAPTAIN on the sleeve or a star by the name. It's a nice touch for leagues that take pride in team roles.

Order before the season

Most pub leagues start in autumn. Order shirts in late summer so the team plays its first match looking the part.

Timing

Production takes 10 to 15 working days after artwork approval, plus delivery. Order before the league season starts or ahead of the winter darts rush.
