Team Kit for Charity Challenges: Peaks, Mudders, Treks
By The Velocity Wear Team
The National Three Peaks, obstacle races, charity treks, long-distance walks, cycling challenges. Workplace and friend groups take them on every year to raise money. Matching team kit makes the fundraising page look professional, the photos look brilliant, and it gives sponsors something visible.
What to wear on the challenge
For physical challenges, technical base layers and proper outdoor gear come first. Cotton tees hold sweat and get cold when wet, which matters on mountains. Our cotton tees and hoodies are ideal for training days, fundraising events, the start line photo and the finish, not for the summit in the rain.
A sensible team kit
- Team t-shirts for training, fundraising events and photos.
- Hoodies for the celebration and cold mornings.
- A branded towel for after an obstacle race.
- Proper technical gear from specialists for the challenge itself.
Design
Team name, challenge, charity and year. Put the fundraising page link or a QR code on the back so people can donate when they see you. Get the charity's permission to use their logo.
Sponsors
Workplace teams often have the company logo as sponsor. Local businesses may sponsor friend teams in exchange for a sleeve logo. Sponsors covering kit costs means more of every donation goes to the charity.
Corporate teams
Company challenge teams make great internal comms content. Order extras for colleagues supporting from home or at fundraising bake sales.
Minimums
Tees and hoodies have a 20-piece minimum per design; towels 50. Teams under 20 can add supporters, family or colleagues to reach it.
Timing
Order kit when training starts, not the week before. It helps fundraising for months. Production takes 10 to 15 working days from artwork approval.
Mistakes to avoid
- 1Wearing cotton on a wet mountain.
- 2Using the charity logo without permission.
- 3Ordering kit after fundraising has already peaked.
- 4Forgetting the QR code or donation link.
Quick checklist
- Technical gear for the challenge itself?
- Charity logo approved?
- Donation link or QR code on the back?
- Sponsor logos placed?
- Kit ordered when training starts?
Training days and team building
Charity challenges often involve months of training walks, runs or rides. Matching team tees on training days build camaraderie and look great on social media updates. Regular posts of the team training in matching kit keep sponsors engaged and remind people to donate.
Workplace fundraising events
Challenge teams often run smaller fundraisers along the way: bake sales, dress-down days, quizzes. Wearing team tees at these events connects them to the big challenge and gives colleagues a reason to ask questions and donate.
Support crew
Challenges like the National Three Peaks need drivers and support crew. Give them a distinct colour or SUPPORT CREW on the back. They're part of the team and deserve recognition in the finish photos.
After the challenge
Share finish photos in team kit with the fundraising total. A thank-you post showing the team in matching tees at the finish is often the most-engaged update of the whole campaign, and it can prompt late donations.
Reusing kit for next year
Leave the year off the main design if the team plans another challenge. Add a sleeve print or patch for each new challenge completed.
Sizing adventurous teams
Team members often wear challenge tees over base layers. Suggest a relaxed fit and collect sizes individually.
