Wooden keychains with your logo are wooden tags laser engraved with your mark, made to order from 50 pieces per design in 10 to 15 working days from artwork approval. The laser darkens the wood where the logo sits, leaving a permanent mark in the grain rather than a printed layer. Wood suits bold, simple artwork and relaxed brands: cafes, outdoor shops, craft makers and hospitality.

How is a logo engraved into a wooden keyring?

A laser, driven by a file made from your artwork, marks a shallow area into the face of the tag. The engraved part comes out darker than the wood around it, so the logo reads as a deeper brown on a lighter background, with no ink involved. Because the mark is in the wood itself, it cannot rub off against keys. Wood is one of three engraved materials in our keychain range, alongside metal and leather, and all three give a single tone rather than colour.

Does wood grain affect how an engraved logo looks?

Yes, and it is the thing to plan for. Grain is the pattern of lines running through the wood, and a laser does not mark it perfectly evenly: the denser lines can take the engraving slightly differently from the softer wood between them. On a bold logo that adds character. On hairline strokes and very small text, the grain can break up the edges, so fine detail looks softer than it does on screen. No two tags in a run show quite the same grain, which is part of the appeal.

Keychain logo ideas has more on cutting a mark down to its strongest small version. A useful test for wood: print your logo at the finished size in dark brown on brown kraft paper. If it reads there, it will read in the grain.

Which brands suit a wooden key tag?

Brands whose look is warm and informal rather than polished. It is a weaker fit where the brief says formal: a law firm or private bank giving clients a gift will say more with brushed metal or engraved leather. Wood is the natural pick for these:

  • Independent cafes, bakeries and coffee roasters, where the tag matches the counter and the menu board.
  • Outdoor, camping and bike shops that want something at home on a rucksack or a carabiner.
  • Craft makers, florists and farm shops selling a keyring at the till.
  • Boutique hotels, B&Bs and holiday lets putting a branded tag on guest keys, as covered in hotel key tags and keychains.
  • Craft breweries and distilleries with a hand-drawn identity.

Is a wooden keyring tough enough for everyday keys?

The logo is the durable part: engraved into the wood, it has no surface layer to wear away. The tag itself is light and will show the marks of daily life, softening slightly at the edges and darkening a little with handling, which many owners like. It will not feel as hard-wearing as a metal tag. For keys that take heavy daily use by lots of people, compare wood with metal in which keychains last longest.

Can each wooden keyring be personalised with a name?

Not piece by piece. Every tag in a run carries the same artwork, and a different name or date on each would make every one its own design with its own 50-piece minimum. What does work is one design per group: a cafe chain with a tag for each site, or a wedding venue with one design per season, each run at 50 or more. A shared design is also the simplest to reorder when stock runs low.

FAQ

Quick Answers

Common questions about keychains — answered.

Wooden keyrings in the Velocity Wear range are laser engraved rather than printed, so the logo appears in a single darker tone of the wood itself. A logo that depends on colour to be recognised is better on printed acrylic or moulded rubber PVC. Engraving on wood suits bold wordmarks, monograms and simple line drawings.

Engraved wooden keyrings have a minimum of 50 pieces per design. Each separate design counts on its own, so a cafe ordering a different tag for each of three sites needs at least 150. The same logo in wood and in metal is also two designs of 50, which can be proofed together and made in one production window.

A logo looks softer on wood than on metal because wood grain does not take a laser evenly: the dense lines and the softer wood between them mark slightly differently, which rounds off very fine edges. Bold strokes and open shapes stay crisp on a wooden keychain, while hairlines and tiny text lose definition. The proof flags detail at risk.

Wooden keychains with a logo suit businesses with a warm, informal identity: cafes, bakeries, outdoor and bike shops, craft makers, farm shops, craft breweries and boutique hospitality. For formal corporate gifts, a brushed metal or engraved leather keychain usually fits better, and for colourful artwork, acrylic or rubber PVC.
