Tracksuits for Sports Clubs: reordering

A reorder is straightforward as long as two things are understood: the 50-set minimum applies again, and an exact colour match to a previous run cannot be guaranteed. Fabric is dyed in batches, and batches drift. Everything else carries over — the artwork is on file, the digitising is done, and the size split from last season is the best starting point you will get.
How close will a second run match the first?
Close, usually close enough that nobody notices on the pitch, but not identical under direct comparison. The garments in a single run come from one dye lot, which is why a top and jogger match each other. A run produced months later comes from a different lot, and even with the same reference the shade can sit slightly differently.
Where it shows is side by side in daylight, which is exactly what happens when half a squad has last year's kit and half has this year's. What should the club keep on file between seasons?
The vector artwork, the Pantone references for garment and decoration colours, the size breakdown you actually issued, and one unworn set as a physical reference. Those four things turn a reorder from a project into an email. Committees change every year and institutional memory in a club is thin, so write them into a handover document rather than leaving them in somebody's inbox.

Does a reorder still need 50 sets?
Yes. The minimum is per design and per production run, not per customer, so replacing a dozen sets mid-season is not a smaller order — it is a full one. That is the single strongest argument for over-ordering slightly at the start and keeping the surplus as club stock.
Five or six spare sets on the original run cost a fraction of what a second minimum costs, and they cover new players, losses and the sizes somebody got wrong. Clubs that plan the season this way rarely need to reorder at all, which is the outcome the sports clubs page is written around.
Is it better to order deeper once?
Financially, almost always. One run of 150 sets sits in a lower price band than two runs of 75, avoids paying transit twice, and guarantees everything matches. Against that sits the cash: a bigger single order needs the money available earlier, and a club funded by subscriptions may not have it.
The judgement is about certainty. If the squad numbers are known and the design is settled, order once and deeply. If the club is growing unpredictably or a sponsor is still being negotiated, a smaller first run with spares is the safer call. Getting two garments to match is the theme of custom tracksuits and matching sets.
If a design is going to change, change it cleanly at a season boundary rather than drifting. A club running three slightly different versions of its crest across three intakes ends up looking untidy in a team photograph and cannot use last season's stock to serve this season's new members. One design per era, ordered deeply, is what keeps a squad looking like a squad. If a change is unavoidable mid-cycle, retire the old version rather than mixing the two, and keep the remaining old sets for training where the difference matters less. That way the visible kit stays consistent even while the stock behind it is being turned over.
