Personalised polo shirts suit groups that want to look smart rather than sporty. Golf and bowls clubs, sailing and rowing clubs, Rotary and Lions groups, school governors at open days, event staff and committees all use them. A crest on one side, a name on the other, and suddenly everybody looks like they belong.
What gets personalised
- First name or full name on the right chest.
- Roles: Captain, Chairman, Steward, Marshal, Coach.
- Initials on the sleeve or cuff for a subtle touch.
- A year or occasion, like a centenary or tour.
Crests and club badges
Club crests look superb embroidered, but many are old and detailed. A crest designed in 1920 with tiny Latin text and fine heraldic lines will need a simplified stitch version. That's normal. Send the best file you have, even if it's a scan, and check the proof.
If your crest includes a governing body or league mark, check you're allowed to use it on clothing.
Classic club colours
Navy, bottle green, burgundy and white are the traditional club palette. Many clubs choose a colour for members and a contrasting colour for officers or staff, so roles are easy to spot on an event day. Remember different polo colours count as separate designs for minimums.
Fits for mixed groups
Club members span generations and body shapes. Offer men's and ladies' fits, and a generous size range up to 3XL or beyond. Older members often prefer a classic rather than slim cut.
Collecting orders from members
Put a sign-up sheet in the clubhouse or share an online form: name as it should appear, size, fit, and payment. Set a deadline and order in one batch. Our minimum is 20 per design with sizes and cuts mixed.
Event and volunteer polos

Centenaries and special years
Club anniversaries are a great moment for a commemorative polo: the crest, the founding year and the anniversary year stitched on the sleeve. Members buy them as keepsakes, and they're often worn at the anniversary dinner and for years after. Plan these at least two months ahead, because anniversary committees always have more to organise than they expect.
Keep a record for next year
Club volunteers change. Keep the crest files, the polo style and colour, logo sizes and the supplier details in a shared folder or with the club secretary. A reorder next season then takes minutes, and new members get the same polo as everyone else.
Selling polos to members
Club polos sell well to members for away games, club dinners and holidays. Run an order window twice a year, collect payment upfront and order in one batch. A small margin can go to club funds.
Checking names on the proof
Have two committee members check every name and role on the proof separately. Club members notice misspellings immediately, and reprints cost time.
