Neck Labels on Wholesale Joggers
By The Velocity Wear Team
On a jogger the label people call a neck label actually sits inside the back waistband. You have the same three choices as on a top: a custom woven label stitched in, a printed label, or a tear-out label the wearer removes. Any of them can be specified on a bulk run, and all of them have to be decided at the quote stage because they are built into the garment rather than added later.
Where does the label sit on a jogger?
Centre back, inside the waistband, is the standard position, and it is what a customer looks for when they pick the garment up to check who made it. Some brands add a second small woven tab on the side seam or at the hip, which is visible from the outside and does a different job entirely: it reads as branding rather than as information. A care label usually sits separately in a side seam so it can be longer without irritating anyone.
Woven, printed or tear-out?
A woven label is the one that feels like a real brand. The text is woven into the tape rather than printed on it, so it survives washing indefinitely, and the edges can be soft-cut to reduce scratching. A printed label is flatter and cheaper and handles small type and logos better. A tear-out label is printed on a perforated tape so the wearer can remove it, which appeals to anyone who finds labels uncomfortable, though it means the branding is gone the first time someone pulls it out.

What does private label include beyond the label?
Custom woven neck labels, tear-out labels, swing tags and packaging are all available together, and used as a set they are what turns a printed blank into a product. The swing tag is the component that most changes how a garment is judged on a rail or a merch table, because it carries the price, the name and the story. The vocabulary used in quoting these is set out in our glossary, and the options across garments are compared in neck labels: woven, printed or tagless.
Does labelling change the lead time or the minimum?
Production stays at 10 to 15 working days from artwork approval, and the floor stays at fifty pieces per design. What changes is the front end: label artwork has to be approved alongside the garment artwork, and it is easy to forget until the point where everything else is ready. Send the label file with the first brief. Garment pricing from $22 a piece at fifty is on our wholesale joggers page, with labelling quoted alongside it.
What information has to be on it?
Fibre composition, care instructions and size are the working minimum, with the exact presentation depending on where you sell. Keep the brand name on the waistband label and push the long legal text to a side-seam care label, which reads better and is more comfortable. The care requirements themselves are covered in care and washing for joggers.
Check the label physically before the run goes ahead. A tape that looks fine on screen can be stiff enough to irritate at the small of the back, and the only way to find that out is to wear one. This is another job the sample does: put it on, sit down in it, wash it once and see whether the label still lies flat. Changing a label specification after fifty garments have been made is not a change at all, it is a second order.
